Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about Study-Wise.

Why practice-based learning and not tutorial videos?+

Decades of peer-reviewed learning science research show that retrieval practice — solving problems and being tested — produces far deeper and more durable learning than passive instruction. Tutorials are helpful for orientation, but the real learning happens through struggle and feedback. Your child learns algebra better by doing 20 problems with explanations than by watching 20 minutes of video. We built Study-Wise on this evidence: ten questions a session with immediate, intelligent feedback. The testing effect is one of the most robust findings in cognitive psychology.

Is the content aligned to the Singapore syllabus?+

Yes. Every question follows the Singapore Ministry of Education (MOE) syllabus — the same curriculum behind Singapore's world-leading results in maths, science, and reading. The skill map covers P1–P6 (ages 7–12) and the Nurturing Early Learners framework for K1–K2 (ages 5–6), spanning English, Math, Science, and Chinese. Questions are set in authentic Singapore contexts, and every skill carries a formal syllabus reference.

How is this different from worksheets or a tuition centre?+

A worksheet is the same for every child. Here, the next ten questions are chosen for your child specifically — reinforcing what is shaky, stretching what is solid, and bringing skills back before they fade. It complements school and tuition; it does not replace the teacher.

We're already careful about screen time — is this just more of it?+

We built Study-Wise around a small, finite ritual: each session has ten questions, then it ends — no infinite feed, no autoplay, no ads, and no streaks engineered to keep your child scrolling. You decide how many sessions you want to practise that day. Most families use it as a swap, not an add-on: ten focused minutes of curriculum-aligned practice in place of ten minutes of undirected screen time.

How does it actually adapt to my child?+

Every answer updates a private estimate of how well your child knows that exact skill — a few right answers in a row move them up, a wrong one brings more practice on that gap, and one careless slip barely changes anything. We tune each question to sit at a sweet spot: challenging enough that it does not feel like busywork, gentle enough that it does not feel demoralising. Skills your child has already mastered get quietly resurfaced before they would normally start to fade, and everything stays paced to what their class is covering that term.

Will the pace guide make my child anxious?+

It is deliberately gentle. We show whether your child is ahead of, on, or building toward the pace of peers at the same level — as a guide, never a public ranking. There are no leaderboards to top, no streaks engineered to hook, and no ads.

How much time does it take?+

Each session is ten questions — about ten quiet minutes. One a day is a small, sustainable ritual that compounds over a term; do more when you want to go faster. Either way, it's never a marathon.

What do I actually see as a parent?+

A clear dashboard of your child's week, the specific topics to nudge, and — on Scholar — mastery trends, syllabus coverage by subject, and the peer pacing guide. Once a month, a one-page note summarises progress in plain language.

What happens if I upgrade or downgrade my child's plan?+

Upgrades apply immediately — your child gets the new tier's questions, subjects and analytics right away, and we charge a prorated top-up for the rest of the current billing cycle. Downgrades take effect at the start of your next billing period: your child keeps everything on the current plan until then, since you've already paid for it. A plan downgrade only changes the person plan — any paid add-ons (Coding, AI, Oral, Learn to Read, Chinese on Spark/Stride, etc.) stay on and keep renewing separately unless you remove them yourself.

Is there a free trial?+

Yes — every new account gets a 7-day free trial on the plan (and optional add-ons) you choose at signup (14 days with a referral code). One child profile during the trial; you can add or remove add-ons anytime (free until billing starts). Your plan converts to paid automatically when the trial ends. Your card is saved at signup but not charged until then. Cancel anytime before from Manage billing, or start payment early if you want more profiles.

Can I cancel anytime?+

Yes. From Account you can cancel a profile’s subscription — access continues until the end of the current billing cycle, then that seat stops renewing (and the profile is removed if other profiles remain). Cancelling your only profile ends the whole account subscription at period end. Closing the entire account deletes all data immediately. We don’t issue cash refunds for unused time.

Is there a referral programme?+

Yes — every account has a unique referral code you can share via WhatsApp or email straight from your account page. When another parent signs up with your code, they get a free 14-day trial at their chosen plan (instead of the standard 7-day trial). Once they complete their first paid month, you earn S$10 in account credit — applied automatically to your next bill. There's no limit to how many friends you can refer.
